My Smokey-Eye Attempt

Another attempt at smokey eye-shadow after viewing a really helpful tutorial at Youtube =) Note the word ATTEMPT cos i'm still not good at it.

The video is by Pursebuzz, the Tila Tequila look-alike! Well that's what many people say. The way she talk's really cute and she puts on make-up like a pro. I like her hair-curling tutorial and i tried it out. Lol... Really good tips from her.

It really beats looking at make-up tips in magazines cos the video brings you throughout the WHOLE process and u can see every single stroke done. Good rite?

I used Bourjois shimmery eyeshadow in triple tones... white, silvery-grey and greyish-black. Somehow the pearly white looks slightly purplish. I wonder why... Was it meant to be like that? Or was it because i never clean my eyeshadow brush and the pigments came from my previous applications? Unlikely leh... But doesn't matter much anyway.

Then on goes the falsies and some eye-liner for the bottom lid.

(Gosh this is such a girly entry.) Anyways... moving on...

The curling things makes me look like i'm from a bygone era. Lol... I doubt many people use those things anymore.

Hair Curling Attempt

I did use an electric curling thong prior to snapping on the plastic curlers. They're my mom's actually and i've always thought that they were useless until recently. In fact, i had thrown away a couple of them before cos i thought they they occupied too much space in the drawers =P

I also used some Wella hair mousse before curling so that the curl would last longer but too much and the hair would sorta be stiff. Hair mousse really looks like whipped cream and is fun to use. I've started using it in primary school and played with it by putting a lot of it on a lock of hair to see how hard and pokey-sharp the hair turns out. I must've been a really weird kid then. Lol...

Well i took off the curlers after like 20min later and started camwhoring with the cute bunny ears. It seems to match my dress too. I had a lot of time since i had to wait til 7pm to use the weekend car.

Had a nice dinner at Ichiban Boshi at Great World City cos i wanted to introduce him to that restaurant. He likes the place too! There are many reasons why it is wayyy nicer than Sakae Sushi.

Firstly, the service is more professional and you can see the chef at work.

Secondly, bigger sofa seating! And there are partitions separating the other seats so there is some sense of coziness and privacy. Hence, their ambience is nicer.

Halim also said that their soft-shell crab is not as oily as Sakae's. They also serve the dishes with unfamiliar sauces so those were interesting to try as well.

We also tried the fried smelt fish. I thought they were large straight prawns but actually they were smaller fishes full of fish roe in them. The spicy fried chicken picture in the menu looks nice and i almost ordered it until he reminded me that the place is not Halal =S

However i still prefer sushi as compared to all those tempura dishes. Better yet, teppanyaki is still nicer to me but i've only tried it once and i'm not sure which places would have that other than the one in Sentosa.

I'm probably going to edit the rest of the pics next time... wanna find out how to make photos look painted just like those of pin-up posters.

I've started liking vintage stuff after the 20th Century Fashion subject especially the Jazzy 1920's where they had the Flapper style. My project reserach was on that era and it must be one of the most glamorous and care-free times ever. It was when women started being daring to express themselves in public like smoking, partying the night away and even touching up their makeup in full public view using compacts which was never done previously. So that era was probably the start of liberation and empowerment for women.

Other than that, I'm hooked on jazz songs these days like Michael Buble's album and i'm about to transfer some Frank Sinatra's songs to my MP3 player. Lol... Frank Sinatra's movies were nice too. It's really the musical sort with a mix of humour and romance.

Out of topic writing:
The Graduation ceremony is in 3 days time! I wonder if having curly hair on that day would be too over? But i wanna look good that day =S And i'll most probably pay to get the stage photos! So must look nice for the last time on that stage. Lol! All my previous stage photos have sucked. Year 1: I looked chubbier and it doesn't help that the photographer took the shot from an unflattering low angle. Plus i wore flat shoes so i was way shorter than the director. Yr 2: Still chubby and the camera angle was still the same so it makes me look fatter. I looked scared in both photos. I have yet to try on my long-sleeve business shirt with the grad gown. And i need to scour my packed cupboard to find my black skirt too. Formal wear is such a PITA.

THE STORY

Her dad has a crocodile farm and she grew up with 3 older brothers there. She has a tough-babe kind of look which is influenced by the testosterone filled environment she grew up in, always dressing up in boy-shirts and getting her hands on her brothers' clothes, belts and caps. She is, however, blessed with a natural exotic beauty mainly due to her mix of Caucasian and Asian parentage which gives her piercing blue eyes, tanned skin and full lips.

Her parents met in Thailand when he went there for a research trip on ideal habitats for crocodiles and it was love at first sight when he met her. Her mom passed away when she was still young. Hence, she had no memory of her mother which left a major void in her heart. Within a rough looking exterior is actually a girl longing for love... a gentle love which she had never experienced and never given. Once her daddy's business began to take off when it began giving supplies of crocodile skin to high-end fashion establishments, she feels that the time is ready for her to start her own life away from the farm and familiarity of life in the outbacks.

"The grass is always greener on the other side," she thought quietly to herself as she contemplated her future. Leaving with nothing more than a suitcase of clothes and some money, she was set on finding a new life in the city. Au revoir!

Will she be able to handle living in the city or would she realised that home is where she really ought to be? Her brothers were strongly against the idea of their little sister going off on her own, but nothing they say can stop her from her mission. Her dad recognised the flame burning within her heart to pursue her dreams. Oh how it reminded him of his late wife. Wanting to help her, he gave her the address of her Thai grandmother who happens to live in the fine city of SINGAPORE, a city full of promises (ooohhh la la! LOL...) Her grandmother owns a reputable restaurant serving Thai cuisines.

She was not well-received at first as her arrival invoked her grandmother's memories of how her only daughter's heart was 'robbed' by a strange foreigner. However, fondness grew as her grandmother saw similar traits of her daughter within her. Both of them were stubborn and very very driven, she noticed.

She helped her grandmother managing the business and would soon learn the ways of trade with much guidance from her grandmother. After all, she did do most of the paperwork and handling of clients for her dad while at the farm. Much was also discovered about her late mother as her grandmother showed her photos of her mother and talked about her every now and then. Somehow, those stories made her feel.....complete? It was as though a missing jigsaw puzzle of her life is finally filled. Her life began to look even brighter as she began falling for a guy. She always looks forward to see him every few days as he sends the restaurant its supplies of fresh fish (LOL!). He is just a delivery boy but his charming personality and good looks got her hooked. Her grandmother approves of their relationship knowing that if she marries him, not only will she be with true love, but it will keep her near as well.

However, there would be a major barrier to their love when her brothers come to visit her and found out that she was dating a delivery boy, or rather, a fish-smelling-nobody, in their eyes. And it doesn't help that they got into a brawl when one of her brother got drunk and began taunting him and pushing him and they got into a fight. Amidst all this mayhem, she received a phone call informing her that her dad back at home was seriously ill. Alarmed and worried for her dad, she took the next available flight back home leaving her new found life.

Would she be able to return? Would LOVE prevail?

Really amazing show and the special effects were spectacular. The show was at the beach with stilt houses as the backdrop and they made lazer images in mid air. So yeah it's really cool. Check out my Youtube videos at the bottom for some snippets of the show.

I've had my phone decked out in pink diamantes and floral nail stickers previously. Even a letter 'S' pasted on to make it really personalised. Well it's about time i gave it a makeover again! Especially since some of the decor had fallen off after about a year. I was also inspired by browsing through a particular 'Bling' Japanese magazine which shows how they used diamantes and stickers to make beautiful patterns on handphones, digicams, etc. Most of the designs involved fully covering the WHOLE handphone with the lil' diamantes but i couldn't get any of those in bulk and the diamantes were sold in very small quantities. So it would be kinda expensive to get several packets enough to cover up my whole phone.

Well i'll share with you what i did instead...
The Ingredients
1) So i settled on buying the following stuff to pimp my phone:

From left: Glittery nail sticker with hearts on them, embossed ribbon stickers in a variety of candy coloured choices and the one in the bottle is a string of gold chain meant for nail art as well. Each of them costs $2 so i spent $8 on them yesterday at Daiso. Kinda cheap considering how much difference they make on the phone!

Before
2) This is my phone before the redecoration.

It previously had my pink floral art stickers on it and some pink diamantes i bought in school which was cheap at that time. I peeled those off and kept them to be used again for the new look =)

3) The before pic of the back of the phone.

It was supposed to be an eye initially but somehow most of the diamantes dropped off and got lost, leaving that odd-looking cresent shape. In the end i decided that i wanted the back to be plain so i removed everything from it and had to wipe off the excess glue stuck onto it.

Processes
4) The first stage was to paste the base using the glittery hearts nail sticker.

This was the most difficult part. Well i'll try to explain it as best as i can but its kinda complicated to explain it in words. I had to use a clear plastic film as a template by covering the front part of the phone with it. I then used a fine pen to go over the major joints and other areas that should not be covered like the screen area. Using the plastic film template, the shape of the areas to be covered was cut out from the nail art sticker. It was kinda tedious to do it this method section by section. So for the rest of the parts of the phone, i simply cut out the estimated size from the sticker, pasted it on the phone and used a pen knife to cut off the excess. I did the same for the sides.

But after that i felt really satisfied looking at the phone. It looks as though it was a new phone and totally different than before. So I kept on going with the embossed ribbon sticker. I used white glue to fix the tiny gold chain around the screen.

5) At this stage, the bottom looks kinda empty so i used the chain and diamantes from before to make two hearts. A heart should never be alone! Hehe... Actually the bigger hearts represents him and the smaller one is well.... you know who =)

I was thinking whether to put my initials or our initials at first, but it was too difficult to shape the letter using the chains. I'm afraid that it'll end up looking like meaningless swirls. The hearts was a better choice i think.

At this point i thought that the transformation was completed. But IT'S NOT OVER.

6) Today while walking around the mall with my friends i found this at an accessory shop. Pretty Rose coloured diamantes which i thought would fit nicely with my phone...

It costs $3.30 per packet but i felt that i juz have to get it. Vahidha was saying that my phone doesn't have anymore space to add it on but i managed to squeeze a few more in without it looking overcrowded. Hehe... I think i'm kinda anal about blank spaces and feel that those areas juz have to be filled up!

Finally... AFTER!
7) So yeah i added a few pices of the rose coloured diamantes.

After that i feel kinda accomplished since there's like nothing else i can do to pretty up the phone some more.

Everytime i look at it, i feel as though my phone is smiling at me! Haha. It looks so happy now.

Freshkon Windsome Brown contact lens!

I've been wearing black contact lens all this while and decided that since my hair has faded to brown i might as well try it to see if it matches my hair. I wore it just now and it seems to have a softer effect as compact to totally black. But black really makes the eyes look bigger so i'm not sure which one i should continue using.

Will update about the Clarke Quay outing just now another day~

I Should Keep on Going...

Just when i thought that i should just wrap things up since things are slow, and thought that things are going nowhere, I've got a really encouraging e-mail. It really motivates me to keep on going and not to give up! And there will also be a contest opening on 17 June so i was weeely hoping that you guys could vote for me then =)

It really gives me hope that even though sales are really slow, the effort paid off in terms of making it a unique site. So i decided that i shall keep the site and update it once in awhile when i have new stuff.

I also really appreciate all those who have supported me in giving their feedback regarding the site so that i could keep on improving it and entertaining all my qualms regarding the design, layouts and other stuff. I'm really happy. To me it's not just a rating, it really gives me hope that it is sustainable, and there is room for growth. Even though i started it leisurely for fun, for the sake of getting a taste of having an online business, it sorta became my obsessive hobby i.e. taking photos of the items, editing the pics, drawing, etc. At times even stressful :/ i was becoming really passionate about it and on most days, it kept me occupied.

But soon the burning excitement started to die down when i realised that there was way too much competition and it was hard to even get traffic at times. Sometimes the advertising works, at most times, it doesn't help much. Marketing is really harder in real life as compared to how they teach you in school. Like in school projects we were encouraged to think 'differently', be creative and even said that negative publicity is publicity in itself. We were encouraged to come up with daring campaigns and stuff but in real life it takes guts to launch daring ideas for fear of getting flamed.

Like maybe i could dress up in a Martian costume and walk around Far East Plaza and Orchard area, mumbling in incoherent alien language, giving out flyers splattered with goo to girls to promote my site, tasering some random strangers (using In's trick candy box, ala Elektrick Girls style), sit in a moving kiddy ride (or Suntec City's buggy ride would be perfect) decked out as a spaceship and ramming it against people's legs, create chaos or do a dance there. It'll probably get featured in the news as a wierdo in the street which would help get publicity. Well...

you know that i'm not that crazy :p And it is less likely that my personality will stray away from the safe ol' Sarah that i am.

...

But things are looking up right now, not so paranoid about his blog shop thingy right now. Feel like there is a balance in my life, spending time with my love, friends and family. I love it now.

My course will start on 4 August, not in June which i previously misread, so i still have lotsa time to enjoy, destress, travel, and maybe find a job once i feel ready to give up my entire freedom. Afterall i wanna get a new Mac laptop and i wanna get the best one. SO the well-deserved money can only come from a ... JOB *yawnz*... I have no idea what job i would like right now but ~~F&B~~ is definitely out of the question. I've suffered enough from working in Pizza Hut and Long John Silvers. And so is ~~telemarketing~~ or basically anything to do with dealing with irritating people. Don't you know i'm a shy person? Lol... But those were good experiences in helping me learn that i don't wanna be there anymore.

Working from home would be nice.

I'd like to think that my drawing/colouring skills have improved. This is the third 'model' and she's wearing a Korean dress but somehow the flower, gloves and red shoes makes her look Spanish-ish.

Hopefully this way i can find more people who have the same interest as me =) Hence the new site.

But i'll take quite some time before its up cos there's so many things in my head now that i wanna put onto canvas. Goin nuts...

Anyways... i like Ashley Simpson's "Outta My Head". Looking good after her OBVIOUS nose job. Her resemblance to Jessica is much more striking too.

Sucky Sakae

Sakae Sushi at Suntec City wasn't as nice as expected. The ambience was bad... noisy, small, kinda cramped, slow service and using the computer to order food was weird, so technical. Ichiban Boshi at Great World City is still my favourite so far.

Well, we didn't go swimming today as it was raining. Good and bad in a way.

Tho i liked today's pics and it makes me happy looking at it, i wouldn't say that the day ended off nicely...

Crazy Crazy!

The Body Shop Warehouse Sale at Suntec was madness. Especially at the make-up section. It's like a jostling match of ladies trying to get to the front. Luckily Faz was around cos she can easily shimmy her way to the front being very slim and helped to pass stuff to me behind.

And many many thanks to Wani for informing me about it =) Very nice of her. I found many stuff i needed there and spent a lot la... Like when we were queue-ing Faz and me were wondering if they accepted NETS. So i looked at the box she was holding containing all our goodies and figured that it couldn't possibly reach $70 so we can just pay by cash. I was so wrong! It was $70+ for both of our stuff. Basically i just grabbed whatever i liked but i think that it's worth it. Cos my facial wash has finished, i needed to get my own foundation rather than using my mom's and Body Shop bronzer would be too expensive to buy on normal days and my mascara was almost totally dried up. So yeah it's a good deal for me. I admit i am a rather impulsive buyer today but i good that feel good rush from shopping. Still happy when i look at my goodies.

Our exclusive red carpet pics at the Grammy's ...Hehe obviously not. But I think that Faz can rock the red carpet with her poses :

My goodies. Mascara, Night and day cream, bronzer, seaweed facial wash & toner (already tried and it feels abit minty and cooling, very nice), foundation & strawberry body polish which i'm giving away to sum1 who likes these kinda stuff ;) She should know who she is. I think i might be giving my brother's gf the night cream also since i'm already using something else. I'd like to think off all the remaining items as neccesities =) But not sure about the bronzer if i'll make full use of it. And i have yet to test out the foundation to see if it matches my skin.

Lastly, one of the best deals i found at Marina Square today. $12 heels!!! Faz bought a pair that is more of a leathery look. Really nice and other ladies were trying it on and i got the last size 37 pair. It has shimmery ribbon tie-front and mine has a kinda golden frosty appearance. Might be looking for glittery or silvery socks/leggings to match these shoes. Anyone knows where i can find those tell me k?

Okay... reality is setting in now... I'm scared to look at the balance in my bank a/c. Hehe...

Meet 'Boboi' The Teddy

I guess Halim must've rolled over during his sleep and squashed 'Boboi' now. That's the name we settled on among other considerations like 'Mr Scampy', 'Bushuk', 'Comot', ''Capok', Mr Canal', etc... Mainly revolving around the way it looks scruffy and it's fur being a mix of white and dirty grey patches.

Well here's the cutie:

I entrusted Halim to take care of it... I'm sure it'll be fine and smothered with drool cos he slept with it.

The packaging it came in. My sis bought it from Spotlight. And probably had it for a few years before realising that she didn't want to sew it and passed it to me. Which made me so happy! She said that she had tried to make one before but it went wrong like the direction of fur was messed up etc. So these are the things to look out for. I made a few mistakes too but they were not significant in affecting how it look like in the end. For example... i didn't notice that there was one screw that was slightly longer than the rest and it's meant for the neck joint. So i used the shorter screw for the neck and super glued the ends, making it an irreversible mistake. All the while i was attching the neck to the body i was having trouble with squeezing the two body parts together cos the nail wass too short but i managed to force them tighly and screw them. So in the end i have a very tight n stiff neck and a loose and slightly dangly right leg for the teddy. Luckily it still looks fine =)

The whole set was kinda expensive about $34+. Probably because of the fur. And it does look like an attractive, collectible artpiece in the end.

After everything has been cut out i arranged them and have a preview of what it may look like. It looks like a bunny doesn't it? A roadkill bunny.

After all the parts have been backstitched.

Joining all the parts together was one of the easiest task. But yea i made a mistake with the screws. Should've read the tiny piece of folded paper in the package.

Stuffed with pellets and... stuffing! Fatten it up. I tried to stuff in all the stuffing provided cos i guessed it's meant to be firm, not flimsy. Everyone was saying that it was heavy. I like it that way cos it feels 'expensive' in a way.

After sewing up the stuffing openings it looks more cuddly... but faceless. The eyes were already attached but was covered by the thick fur.

There's the face after trimming the fur. More visible. I felt like a pet groomer doing that.

And on goes the red ribbon. Voila! 'Boboi' is born =)

Halim was sick today so i hope he feels better having this teddy around. I used to hug and sleep with the huge teddy he gave me when i missed my late cat. Funny how we find comfort in inanimate objects sometimes. But not these days cos i have Kiki to cuddle, even though she's very resistant. And she must be the culprit who stole one of teddy's ear when i left it on the table overnight. The next morning it was missing and my mom found it on the floor with some of the fur edges clumped together, most likely from her saliva.

And i've stopped LJ-cutting this wk. Cos i prefer to see everything at a go when i view my blog to see again how my week has been.

Making something furry today =)

I might finish it by tommorrow. It's just a something that my sister passed to me cos she didn't want to make it.

And after i finished it i might give it to Halim <3 Hope it turns out alright. Will update on how the final thing would look like even if it looks like a dead carcass.

Well, I'm going to Simpang Bedok soon... he told me 'tak payah siap lawa2, dekat jer. Make-up pun tak payah.'

Finally tried Teh Tarik flavour at Island Creamery today. Also tried Reverso. The teh terik ice-cream flavour was really true to its name and i liked Reverso for its chunks of cookies. Well i dun feel like typing much today since i'm kinda tired from driving and driving trying to find Serene Centre at Adam Road again. So here are the pics:

I wore the white wraparound skirt with my top which happens to have somewhat the same floral design and my large trusty butterfly belt (so last season but i dun mind =). The pic look as though i had pulled the skirt up until below the bust but it's not. That's my shirt la. Hehe...The black version of the wrap skirt is already up on my blog shop. So if you're interested do take a look =)

Kent Hill Park (if i remembered the name correctly). We sorta played with the camera setting like for night shots. It's like being up at Fort Canning except you can see the sea much clearer and when u look down the stairs it's like never ending.

Well i'm not in the best of moods today, n starting to feel the pinch of petrol costs. Like going from one end of the island to the other, visit some places in between, and then back again everytime we went out. Probably used up around $30 in petrol like that. Cost of living here really going up manz... Having the 'must have 3/4 full petrol tank' law before going up to m'sia really sucks. Petrol there is half the price of here.

Green as Shrek!

Met my favourite gals today! Missed them a lot! Wee i'm so happy.

N today was the first time i ate in a Sushi restaurant. Ichiban -sumthin restaurant in Great World City. I was like so overwhelmed by the menu like everything was so foreign... Yeah i was very jakun. I just left it up to them to order for me. What great buddies. But the food was wonderful. I wuv sushi!

We then watched the movie there, Vantage Point... since everyone's been saying how nice the cinema there was. Kinda nice atmosphere there also la. What i can say about the movie is... I've never seen so many explosions... of the same explosion. Yup. Only those who watch can understand. Hearing everyone's whining response during the 'rewind' period was kinda funny. Like damnit there it goes again kind of response. But it's a good movie la. Nice action movie, many twists n gd story line.

Then we hung out at Starbucks for awhile:

And to top off the wonderful day, met up with In for Raden Mas performance at Victoria Theatre. She got us VIP tix k... like 3rd row from the front. I'm so in awe of the Indon lady's singing... so powerful. I pretty much think that the Indonesian guest performers stole the show. Marina Yusoff was good also la, trying to portray the evil stepmother. It was really interesting ah, with some authenticity from Raden Mas' gravekeeper, Pak Daeng who was there too. Well that's part of the Malay history in Singapore and i think that the performance does help to maintain some interest in our past or maybe our roots. Another favourite legend movie of mine is Putri Gunung Ledang. Just love the movie and it can really make me cry cos it's like such a sad love story.
